In the wake of recent court cases, the latest release by Apple promises to be ‘unhackable’ by “bad actors”, including Cyber criminals, hacktivists, rogue nations, National Security, Kirsten Stewart and Steven Segal.
The FBI have reportedly ‘hacked’ into the iPhone they needed access to without the need of assistance from Apple, and are reportedly looking to use the same technique in another case. This has prompted concerns by many in the industry that security has been breached and therefore a response from Apple was inevitable.
So today we see the release of their latest (and possibly greatest) edition which is going back to basics. Here is a leaked picture of their latest offering.
The latest Apple, ‘Apple 1:AD’ (code name ‘Apple 1-a-day-keeps-the-FBI-at-bay’), comes with a cable to charge the device, but no plug – so you can’t turn it on. (Although battery life is still expected to only last 12.4minutes). Some of the main features include coming in ranges of Green, Red and a strange insipid yellow. It also boasts claims to improve your health, although when several 8yr olds were asked to comment, they believe this to be just ‘corporate hype’. Although Granny Smith (a leading expert in the field) states they have many benefits, including keeping away Doctors and other nursing professionals.
To ensure your security is maintained, none of the features you may be accustomed to are there now; You can’t make calls (someone might be listening). You can’t take pictures (someone might steal them) and you can’t use the internet (someone might be listening and stealing from you). What you CAN do is look at it (who doesn’t like looking at Apple products?). You can turn it around and you can pick it up. Other benefits are yet to be discovered but when this goes on shelves we expect demand to be high (especially in the run up to beach body season).
When is it available?
You’ll have to be quick! The Apple has an expected shelf life of only several days and the one in the leaked picture will only be around for the next 2 or 3 minutes.
As you would expect, the FBI, NSA, CIA, GCHQ, BBC, ITV and B&Q are all keen to get hold of the new product to understand what it’s capable of.
Information Security, Data Protection and Cyber Security – They are serious topics and they’re all the same thing (at their core), which is why it’s good to see an Apple with a strong ‘core’ infrastructure (see what I did there?!).
Where does this leave us? The new product is ‘feature poor’ but ‘quality rich’. Perhaps we should look closely at the next Apple product more carefully in the future and balance what it can give to us but also what it can take from us too.
On a personal level, I’m a real fan of Apple products, but I’m rather excited about the new Orange Blackberry that’s due out next week … I feel another blog coming on!
Stay happy and stay (cyber) healthy!
